Super Intelligence
If you follow what comes out of the United States, the name for the next stage of artificial intelligence is already Super Intelligence.
OpenAI described the concept in Governance of superintelligence, on May 22, 2023. In that text, Super Intelligence means future AI systems dramatically more capable than even AGI.
On September 29, 2026, the White House published the order Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence. It says frontier systems already represent a new era of Super Intelligence, and it directs the executive branch to use Super Intelligence and SI in place of artificial intelligence and AI. The official publication is in the Federal Register. In that order, the legal definition still follows the American statute for artificial intelligence, until the government proposes a definition of its own.
